The early election of 25 November 2011 followed the 20 February Movement protests and the constitutional reform approved in July 2011 . The House grew to 395 seats, including a national list for women and young people; turnout was 45.5% .
The PJD won a historic victory with 107 seats (22.78% of the vote), far ahead of Istiqlal (60), the RNI (52) and the PAM (47) .
The first application of Article 47 For the first time the King applied Article 47 of the new Constitution and appointed the winning party's Secretary-General, Abdelilah Benkirane, Head of Government on 29 November 2011 . The government comprised the PJD, Istiqlal, the Popular Movement and the PPS; Istiqlal left in July 2013 and was replaced by the RNI .
