The legislative election was held on Wednesday 23 September 2026 to elect the 395 members of the House of Representatives. The Interior Minister announced provisional results on 24 September and confirmed on 26 September that the final results matched them exactly .

The PAM came first with 97 seats (+10 on 2021), followed by the RNI with 66 (−36) and Istiqlal with 65 (−16). The PJD staged the strongest comeback of the vote with 54 seats after only 13 in 2021 .

Falling turnout Turnout was 38.08%, against 50.86% in 2021 — the second lowest under King Mohammed VI .

After the vote The top three parties together hold 228 seats, above the majority threshold of 198 . Article 47 requires the King to appoint the Head of Government from the winning party . Six days after the vote, on 29 September 2026, the King appointed Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, coordinator of the PAM's collective leadership, Head of Government and asked her to form the cabinet, making her the first woman to lead a Moroccan government . She had said there were "no red lines in alliances" .
